Word-of-mouth! People often recommend a grandma after they've stopped by, or they hear about it on social media.
After they've filled out this form, we'll schedule a time to chat via phone or Zoom to get to know each other.
From there, we'll coordinate a date, time, and place for them to join the Grandma Stand. On average, we'll go out for about 2 hours per outing.
Lastly, everyone of our grandmas who've participated have asked to do it again - it's a lot of fun!

NYC: Check Instagram Stories! We have been to just about every part of NYC. Sometimes we're invited to parks, plazas, street fairs and events, and sometimes we pick random public street corners. Wherever we pop-up, we'll always share our location 1-2 days before.
However, we're always open to recommendations or invitations! For spring, summer and fall, we're generally outside, but for winter months, we love indoor locations.

I think of four discussion prompts and let the community vote using an Instagram Poll.
Whichever prompt has the highest number of votes is then hand-written on sandwich boards for people walking by to read, process and then share their responses with grandma.

Host cities have been run from everyone from the grandmas themselves (ex: Grandma Susan in Denver, CO) to a downtown district (ex: Downtown McKinney Development in McKinney, TX)
